Nightlife on Barbuda

Given that Barbuda is a very relaxed and laid-back destination, the nightlife is also quite low key. So much so that some folks will tell you that there is nothing to do - not true at all!  There are a couple of discos/night clubs and casinos (although they are not as flashy as those you'd find in the US), but in general evening activities center around the small local bars and pubs, inns and hotels. 

During peak season many of the hotels will provide live music, such as steel or string bands, to entertain tourists.  For example, The Four Seasons Nevis generally has live music nightly, Saturday night is "West Indian Buffet Night" at the Golden Rock Plantation Inn featuring the oldest string band on Nevis (The Honey Bees), the Hermitage Plantation Inn has a pig roast on Wednesday nights accompanied by The Sugar Mill String Band, enjoy the Calypso tunes and seafood buffet at Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on Thursdays, listen to the Hummingbird String band at the Oualie Beach Hotel on Saturday nights, or enjoy an elegant evening at the Montpelier Plantation Inn with BBQ and live music.  

Also, most of the villages host cookouts on Friday and Saturday nights, and there are generally beach parties and bonfires on Sunday nights when the cruise ships arrive at Sunshine's.  Sing along with Karaoke on Wednesday nights at Eddie's in Charlestown, or relax and enjoy Sunday Brunch at Tequila Sheila's while listening to some great Jazz tunes.

You can almost always find something fun happening in any number of places, often with great music and great food.  Many events happen spontaneously or may be scheduled, but not on a consistently repeating schedule, so you have to remain flexible and open-minded to the seemingly whimsical concept of entertainment on Nevis.  Don't hestiate to ask the locals that you meet what they recommend - Nevis has some of the friendliest folks in the caribbean.  They enjoy meeting new people too, will gladly share stories with you, and tell you about what is going on around the island.
